Your biggest client wants 20% off.
or they go to tender on Monday
Three rounds. Three decisions. Five minutes. You will not be asked what you know about negotiation — you will be asked what you actually do when the room turns.
Play anonymously. We only ask who you are at the end, and only for the full breakdown.
The brief
You run the Meridian account. It is 22% of your revenue and it renews in eleven days.
Meridian has a new procurement lead. On Friday evening, an email lands.
What do you do?
Want the full breakdown?
Round by round: the move you made, the move that was available, and the tactic behind it.
This is one scenario with three decision points. The workshop version runs a full account through a room of your people, and the argument afterwards is the part that changes behaviour.

The Negotiation Room is a free, browser-based negotiation practice scenario: one client renewal, a 20% price-cut demand, and three decision points played in about five minutes. The tactics behind each round come from the negotiation deck used in our facilitated programmes — preparation and walk-away points, anchoring, silence and open questions, de-escalation, and trading rather than conceding.
Choices are scored the way the workshop scores them: best, defensible or weak, never right or wrong. At the end you get a breakdown of which tactic you reached for at each moment and what it tends to cost, plus the strongest move for each round, named.
If you want the thinking behind the moves, start with negotiation skills in the glossary and our guide to difficult conversations at work. Negotiation practice with a live counterpart and a facilitator is part of our soft skills training. And if you liked playing a scenario instead of reading about one, The Weekly Challenge runs a full crisis week in ten minutes.
Fair questions
Is the Negotiation Room really free?
Yes. You play the three rounds without signing up. At the end we ask who you are only if you want the full scored breakdown, which is how a trainer can follow up usefully.
What do the three rounds cover?
Round one is the weekend before the meeting: preparation and your walk-away point. Round two is the meeting itself, when a vague criticism lands and the room tilts. Round three is the close, where an “18% and we sign today” offer tests whether your limit was real and whether you trade or concede.
Is this a negotiation course?
No, it is a practice scenario. It will not teach you theory; it shows you which moves you reach for under pressure and names the tactic behind each one. The theory lives in the feedback: every option ends with a short coaching note on why it works or what it costs.
Can I run it with my team?
Yes, and the comparison is where it gets interesting. Everyone plays the same renewal on their own phone, then you compare which rounds split the room. For the facilitated version with a live counterpart, talk to us.
